PHS Math Curriculum

IMP is Pinedale High School's base curriculum for all students. In addition to IMP the high school offers AP Calculus and Trigonometry. Advanced work. For advanced math students to earn an A the will have complete the challenge portion of the course at a high level of proficiency but they will earn an additional point for their extra work and effort. Their work will be evaluated in a 5 point scale. This scale will be the same scale used for honors or advanced placement courses.

Online Course Work

Students may take an online math course from an accredited institution at any time. Students will be reimbursed the cost of tuition for the online math course(s) if they successfully complete the class with a "C" or better grade and if the grade is included as part of the student's transcript. This course and the accompanying grade will count for PHS credit and the grade will be averaged into the PHS grade point average. Students taking an online math course need to be self motivated and independent learners as the high school staff does not check or monitor their performance in these classes.

Students taking an online math course and needing further explanation or help are encouraged to ask their math teacher for assistance. All math teachers are prepared to assist any student with math questions or needs.

Alignment of IMP to ACT and PAWS Examinations

PHS math teachers are examining and adjusting the current IMP curriculum to ensure alignment to the PAWS and ACT tests. This work is critical to make sure that students have been taught the required material and are able to perform at high levels of proficiency on these examinations.
